BANGKOK, Thailand June 9, 2011 — The 1st Thailand Team Amateur Championship will take place at Hua Hin in Thailand, from November 26th – December 3rd 2011. This new concept is designed to give amateur golfers a chance to experience what it is like to play back to back tournaments, just like their hero’s the professional players do every week. The Championship will take place at three first class courses, Jack Nicklaus’s Springfield, Banyan Golf Club, winner of the several Asian golf awards and Black Mountain Golf Club home of the Royal Trophy and the Asian Masters. The Participants will play 5 rounds of golf: 2 practice rounds and 3 rounds of tournament play. Each Team consist in 4 Amateurs, with every player playing his/her ball individually, and the 2 best scores to count each hole. Organised by Asia’s leading golf tour specialists GolfAsian, the Championship is open to all amateurs. Tournament Director Marco Scopetta, an ex professional golfer on the Swiss PGA Tour said, ‘We will use the AM+AM Tournament format, similar to the Pro Ams, whereby the best two scores per hole will count.
