Welcome to Asia's Best Golf Experiences
Welcome to August 2021 edition of Golfasian’s “The Asian Golf Insider”, your source for the latest Asian Golf travel insider news and updates.
The pandemic continues to cause grief in southeast Asia as most countries are experiencing an increase in daily cases. As the Asian governments continue to take a very cautious approach to open borders to tourism, the push for vaccines continues to provide us all with the hope that the countries will open up by the end of the year.
The Thailand Phuket Sandbox completed its first month and has seen great success with travelers mainly from US, UK, Germany and Middle East. Since the launch on 1 July, 2021, the government is expecting 100,000 tourists will travel to Phuket which has kickstarted tourism again after a quiet patch. The world is watching Phuket as the model for other Asian countries.
We are excited to share that Golfasian has moved our office to Phuket during this time. Our team is there to assist our clients with golf, recommendations, excursions, and any support to make your holiday a seamless experience. We will be launching the first big golf tournament in Phuket since COVID with the Tourism Authority of Thailand Expat Golf Series at Blue Canyon Country Club Lakes Course on August 18, 2021. Please let us know if you would like to join in on the fun. Weekly golf events are also planned at the best courses on the island throughout the next few months as a special offer to customers headed this way.
As we know that you may not be able to travel to Asia due to restrictions, Golfasian now offers holidays Worldwide! With our strategic partners across the globe, we can put together packages for both golf or non-golf activities to your favorite places! So whether you fancy a game at Pebble Beach or visiting the Egyptian Pyramids in Giza please contact Richard HERE

A new golf course designed by Kevin Ramsey and David Dale of Golfplan and located near the city of Cam Ranh, Vietnam, is approaching completion in Q4 of this year.
Nara Binh Tien Golf & Beach Resort sits 45 kilometers south of Cam Ranh International Airport and 90 kilometers from the resort city of Nha Trang.
The 18 hole championship golf course provides a superb golf experience and plays through a gently rolling natural sandy site. The Binh Tien golf course sits on a beautiful crescent-shaped beach, surrounded by low hills and dotted with clusters of rocky outcrops. The views from the course are spectacular, with steep, tree-lined hills to the west and the sea to the east. The dual scenery is unique to this part of Vietnam. The layout is a dunes course, but patches of pines and palms show up throughout the holes.

SOUTHEAST ASIA COVID-19 UPDATES
|
|
Thailand
The Thai government has tightened lockdown in Bangkok and high-risk provinces, this has suspended most domestic flights and curfew areas after the country continues to report high daily cases of COVID-19. The Phuket sandbox still remains open to international travelers, with plans to open other key tourist destinations to vaccinated travelers.
|
Vietnam
Vietnam will extend a lockdown in Ho Chi Minh City until Aug 16th and impose stricter restrictions in the capital Hanoi from Saturday, as the Southeast Asian country battles its worst wave of COVID-19 infections. Vietnam received 1,188,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on August 2 through the COVAX program.
|
|
Malaysia
Malaysia remains closed to international tourists and has extended its Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) until cases go below 4k a day. A new wave of COVID infections has resulted in some more lockdown restrictions across Malaysia. Currently, most golf courses are also closed.
|
Indonesia
Indonesia has extended its partial lockdown for a week, after the month-long restrictions successfully lowered the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Java and Bali. The Indonesian government is still accelerating vaccination nationwide to create herd immunity as soon as possible.

Golfasian has been SHA (Safety & Health Administration) accredited by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. As Thailand is slowly preparing to re-open its borders for international golf travelers, an initiative by the Tourism Authority of Thailand has provided a selected number of tour operators and DMCs who underwent stringent safety & health checks with the SHA (Safety & Health Administration) accreditation. The stringent measures include frequent deep cleaning of Golfasian vans before each service, drivers wearing masks and frequent washing of hands. All customers will be provided with masks and free hand sanitizer upon arrival. Temperature checks before entering the vans and before golf and sightseeing activities are now standard. We are also making use of QR codes for digital in-van golf guide brochures and provide touchless payment. Our drivers and the operations team are well trained on standardized safely protocols required by the governments strict guidelines.
