Welcome to Asia's Best Golf Holidays
Welcome to the first 2021 edition of Golfasian’s “The Asian Golf Insider”, your source for the latest Asian Golf travel insider news and updates.
As the pandemic continues to cause grief, Asia is still experiencing increased infections in many countries. Asian governments are taking a very cautious approach to opening borders to tourism. The optimism surrounding vaccines continues to provide us all with hope and 2021 promises to be a better year.
The Thailand Government has just approved the GQ (golf quarantine) with 6 golf resorts allowing you to quarantine and play golf for 14 days. Please see our COVID updates below for more details. This is welcoming news and initiative by Thailand signaling the desire to get keen golfers back to the Land of Smiles.
If you are dreaming about your next golf trip and would like to start planning the perfect golf holiday and destination, let us know.
Golfasian has partnered with PGA Professional Andrew Knott and we are featuring his academy at Thana City, the Singha Elite Golf Performance Centre. Andrew is a passionate golf coach and those of you in Bangkok will want to immediately improve your game with his techniques. Those planning a trip to the kingdom can request a lesson day in your golf itinerary. It is bound to make a huge difference in your game.

Thailand
Thailand has done a great job controlling the virus and the first wave ended in August. The second wave arrived in December which has been a concern over the last few weeks. A number of provinces in Thailand have implemented different levels of travel restrictions, such as Pattaya and Phuket have strict travel restrictions and you cannot travel in or out of these provinces without written approval from the authorities.
|
Vietnam
Vietnam’s borders remain closed to foreign tourists at this time with only very limited exemptions for diplomatic, official duty, and special cases, including experts, business managers, foreign investors, and high-tech workers of businesses involved in important projects as determined by the Government of Vietnam. Vietnam has not had any new community transmission cases since December 2, 2020.
|
|
Malaysia
Malaysia remains closed to international tourists and has extended its Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) until 31 March 2021. Unfortunately, due to the increase in cases in some parts of Malaysia, the country is operating under moderate travel and business restrictions known as Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO). Virtually all social, educational, religious and business activities are permitted with strict precautionary and sanitation measures in place. Interstate and domestic travel is being discouraged to prevent further spread.
|
Indonesia
Indonesia’s borders remain closed to international tourists for the time being. Arrivals are allowed only for certain and limited purposes such as; business, investment, work, family unification and some other exceptional / emergency situations. Domestic travelling is permitted all over Indonesia. New cases of Covid-19 are still relatively high in Indonesia, but is still under control. Indonesian government started distributing vaccine to all 34 provinces (nationwide). Bali has been a priority for the vaccination to 70% of total population to start a travel bubble.

Golfasian has been SHA (Safety & Health Administration) accredited by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. As Thailand is slowly preparing to re-open its borders for international golf travelers, an initiative by the Tourism Authority of Thailand has provided a selected number of tour operators and DMCs who underwent stringent safety & health checks with the SHA (Safety & Health Administration) accreditation. The stringent measures include frequent deep cleaning of Golfasian vans before each service, drivers wearing masks and frequent washing of hands. All customers will be provided with masks and free hand sanitizer upon arrival. Temperature checks before entering the vans and before golf and sightseeing activities are now standard. We are also making use of QR codes for digital in-van golf guide brochures and provide touchless payment. Our drivers and the operations team are well trained on standardized safely protocols required by the governments strict guidelines.

By Andrew Knott, Singha Elite Performance Centre @ Thana City.
As golfers we all have one thing in common, we love hitting good shots…Whether that is striping a driver down the fairway to holing a 10-foot putt. I don’t know about you, but my problem is it just doesn’t happen often enough, especially at the times I want it to. But apparently it doesn’t have to be that way!
Watch the first tip on 'What it Feels Like to Hit a Good Shot.
