Welcome to the April 2023 issue of the Asian Golf Insider, the source for news-breaking information about golf in Asia. Also, unique golf-playing tips for South East Asia's tropical environment, announcements of golf travel promotions, and fantastic upcoming tournament information are all parts of this newsletter.
Firstly, I would like to introduce myself, Brendan Cunningham, the new Business Development & Events Director at Golfasian. I’m now two months into the role and have quickly discovered why the global golfing community chooses Golfasian when venturing into Southeast Asia for their ultimate golfing experiences – we have a knowledgeable, dedicated team of golf holiday consultants and it’s great to be part of it!
A testament to success of the Golfasian team is once again receiving recognition with multiple nominations for the 10th World Golf Awards. We are very proud to announce nominations in the following categories:

In the first three months of 2023, we saw golfers return to Asia in droves, to the extent that at times in Thailand, it was difficult to find tee times on any course. However, as we move into the low season for the Asian tourism, it can be said that now is a better time than ever to travel with some great deals on golf courses and hotels all across the region.
While Thailand and Vietnam continue to be the top golfing destinations in Southeast Asia, we are seeing a lot more interest in Bali, the Philippines and our destination of the month – Cambodia. Angkor Golf Resort in Siem Reap is in prime condition at the moment, with Phokeethra Country Club and Siem Reap Booyoung Country Club rounding off an amazing golf experience, with the opportunity to also visit Angkor Wat – the largest religious structure in the world.
Phnom Penh also has some great golf course and can be combined with a Siem Reap package, please reach out to us if you would like details on Cambodian golf packages.
We held our first tournament in March, the Hua Hin Skins Golf Week, with over 50 players from 15 different countries around the world. Our tournament calendar gets very busy in June with the Centara World Masters and Avani Pattaya 2 Ball (wait list). Additionally, our new DoubleTree Phuket Golf Invitational starts in July. We then have three tournaments in September with the Pattaya Men's, Vietnam World Masters and Danang 4 Ball Golf Championship. Follow our updates by bookmarking this page for our ongoing Asian golf tournament calendar. Each golf tournament allows amateur golfers to participate in professionally organized golf events that challenge one's golf skills in a fun setting and provide excellent networking and new friendship-building opportunities with golfers from all over the world.
One final tip is the ‘hot’ season has just commenced in most Southeast Asian countries, so recommend requesting early tee times if you get the chance. It’s quite fortunate that carts are compulsory on most courses, so take advantage of them and remember to keep the fluids up and wear appropriate attire to protect from the sun. It’s a great time to get out on the course but just remember to take the right precautions 😊
I look forward to welcoming you in coming months whether to a tournament or personalized golf package. Our specialty is complete full-service itineraries created for your specific travel preferences, expectations, group size, and budgetary requirements. Please get in touch with us anytime for a competitive quote. Until the next month, happy golfing!
