Asia’s leading golf operator, Golfasian, is looking for a senior events manager (EM) with solid sales & marketing focus to support our golf tournament and corporate golf event business. The EM has overall responsibility for delivering a top-notch experience for players, sponsors, partners, and all tournament constituents and has the responsibility of operating the company’s day-to-day event business. The EM will lead the event execution with a breadth of responsibility that ensures excellence in all tournament operational and financial aspects. This role will entail: Leadership and planning:
Develop schedules and execute plans to establish each event
Create and implement marketing and promotional tournament strategies
Build strong relationships and serve as a primary interface with golf courses, hotels, sponsors, media, and players
Supervise all assigned event staff from the company and contracted
Provide oversight of operations, staffing, revenue and expense management, and both internal and external communication
Manage all vendor relationships throughout the year
Financial:
Develop and assume fiscal responsibility for an operating budget explicitly created for each event
Monitor revenue and expenses to ensure budget goals are met
Provide event budget analysis and review with management
Select tournament vendors, contractors, and merchandise
Operations:
Develop and implement an effective operating structure for planning, preparing for, and executing each tournament
Develop a list of required resources, including personnel, merchandise, supplies, signage, rental equipment, etc.
Serve as primary tournament contact for host golf clubs, hotels, and media.
Responsible for pairing, starting, scoring, compiling results, and on-site event announcements
Develop and implement the entire operations plan for a successful event, including marketing, sales, pricing, format, scoring, prizes, merchandise, inclusions, add-ons, etc.
Create and manage event digital marketing/social media plan
Meet with all interested parties regularly to ensure that goals and objectives are met, including the tournament plan detailing, tasks, timelines, responsibilities, and contacts
Coordinate schedules, marketing, promotion, course/hotel/location selection, rules officiating, scorecards, starting and scoring, groupings and starting times, press releases, prize giving, entertainment, F&B, reporting summary, and event wrap-up.
Sponsorship and Revenue:
Develop sponsorship offers and assist in sponsor identification and contract closures
Develop pricing and packaging of all sponsorship opportunities
Identify and oversee all sponsorship contracts and opportunities for new revenue streams
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required in sports management, marketing, tourism, or related field
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a leadership role at an event management company or equivalent experience in business
Experience running golf tournaments is preferred
Exemplary verbal and written communication skills with high-level presentation ability
Flexibility to work both independently and collaboratively in an entrepreneurial environment
Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Social Media, and golf scoring software
In addition to working standard business hours Monday through Friday, availability to work nonstandard hours on weekends, holidays, etc.
Experienced in tournament operations and Rules of Golf
Experienced in public relations and public speaking
Service and customer-focused attitude
Prior experience in the golf and travel industries is a significant advantage. However, candidates meeting the criteria below, irrespective of the type of organization they come from, will be considered. The ideal candidate will have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, be adaptable, and be a creative problem solver who can think outside the box and still meet short-term objectives while staying focused on long-term company success. Golf professionals or enthusiasts with outstanding leadership, proven financial stewardship, & excellent communication skills are a must. Preferred specialties include corporate event and golf tournament organization, golf tour sales, customer relationship management, social media engagement & interaction, and formation of strategic alliances.
