The native Australian tree that resembles a pine shares the same name as the golf course and is the main tree planted throughout the golf course. The backside of the leaf has the color of silver gray that looks attractive in the wind. Silky Oak is a regulation par-72 layout. The local layout and design plays to 7,041 yards in length and is the shortest of the three courses in the same complex. However, it is conceptually different as the fairways are wide and greens very accessible. Silky Oak is ideal for golfers with medium to high handicaps and those looking for an enjoyable day out on the fairway. With a beautiful design and the stunning scenery surrounding the course, Silky Oak layout is a feast of beauty. However, don’t be fooled by the rather open concept as there are a variety of potential pitfalls to challenge even the most accomplished golfers. The extra wide fairways have tremendous height differences. Well placed accurate shots have the edge over long booming drives. Water comes into play on eight holes. At the 4th and 13th holes; both of which are dogleg and 398 and 585 yards respectively you must play twice over water to reach the green. Unique and undulating green complexes require short game finesse to score well. Most holes on the course play to panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The halfway houses located on top of the hills have extra special breathtakingly scenery. Be sure to stop here between nines to take in the magic of the area. The clubhouse and other facilities at Silky Oak are adequate, but nothing special as compared to the golf course itself. Insiders Tip: Make sure you arrive well before your start time as it is a 15-minute drive by golf cart from the clubhouse to the first hole. Silky Oak also wins the award for best value-for-money Pattaya golf course. Have fun!
