Santiburi Samui Country Club

18 holes par 72 (6824 yards)
Santiburi Samui Country Club

The Santiburi Samui Country Club was Koh Samui’s first golf course and provides both challenge and charm with a lush tropical setting. The 18-hole championship golf course came to fame when it hosted the 2006 Bangkok Airways Open. Located on a hillside on Koh Samui’s north shore and amidst old coconut gardens, the golf course has a commanding scenic panoramic view of the Gulf of Thailand and Koh Phangan Island. Most holes have magnificent ocean and beach views. Waterfalls and creeks run through the land adding a lush, natural beauty with the hills providing a picturesque backdrop.

Each of the 18 holes at Santiburi Samui Country Club has its unique character and challenges. From steep uphill and downhill slopes to winding fairways that are cut into the forest and meander around cliffs and streams, Santiburi Samui Country Club is one of the unique Thailand golf courses.

Tifeagle grass greens run very fast, and new shade resistant Sea Isle Paspalum tees and fairways ensures good playing conditions year round.

The golf course starts off the first few holes playing through a mature coconut forest and then progresses up the mountain. The fairways follow the natural line of the hills, creating an interesting and challenging golf game. Rock outcroppings found on several holes also adds to the challenge.

Due to this being a shortish mountainous course this course rewards accuracy, not distance. Small fairways are the order of the day on most holes, but the large greens make approach shots a little easier. The Koh Samui golf course requires a golf cart to get up and down the steep mountain slopes.

The luxury clubhouse provides comfortable changing rooms, a well-stocked pro shop and a restaurant with beautiful terrace seating to enjoy the surrounding scenery just a little while longer.

This course may be a little too difficult for the casual golfer. There are several blind shoots and quite a bit of elevation changes. However, it is a beautiful course with fantastic views.

What great golfing experience on this stunning island.
The designer managed to fit in 18 holes on this hilly plot of land surrounded by palm trees.
Lots of sloping fairways and elevations everywhere so remember to bring a few extra golf balls .
Loved the cool coconut afterwards on the clubhouse terrace.

A very hilly 18 holes played through some tight fairways and greens surrounded by palm trees.

Wonderful views of the island and the sea and definitely bring some extra balls as the rough and jungle are forgiving.

You will need a golf cart as the going is quite exhausting.

It is however a fun layout and afterwards, you can enjoy a cool cocktail on the clubhouse verandah.

Hosted several Asian Tour events including the prestigious Queens Cup.

Very enjoyable.

Thank God they make you take a cart. I never take a cart, but I would not have made it around with out it! Very tight course, need to be arrow straight on some holes. The caddie will always just habd you the driver on the tee but you need to think if it really is needed. Keep the ball in play to shoot a good score. Enjoy the first green :)
Graham.
