In recognition of its unique natural character, fauna, and wildlife, Khao Yai has recently been named a World Heritage site.

The area lies mainly in Nakhon Ratchasima Province (near Korat), but also includes parts of Saraburi, Prachinburi and Nakhon Nayok provinces.
