The Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club & Resort Description:
(Peter Thomson designed parkland course in the scenic countryside)

The Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club & Resort, built in 1996 and around 40 minutes north of town, is one of the original modern-day Chiang Mai golf courses. The layout is well-suited for the amateur and professional golfer alike. The most striking feature if the golf course itself is the abundance of greenery and mature trees while still keeping in harmony with the natural scenery and rolling countryside.

Set within a valley and surrounded by mountains, Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club & Resort is a course of natural beauty and incorporates waterfalls, streams, and an abundance of landscaping. The Chiangmai golf course sits on the site of a former fruit orchard and as such has one of the most abundant varieties of trees found on any Thailand golf course. Thousands of flowering trees with different fragrances and colors throughout the year dot every hole. The higher Chiang Mai altitude provides a colder, less humid climate, clear air, and gentle breezes. There is a plethora of wildlife including many species of local birds.

The Five-time British Open Champion, Peter Thomson designed the Royal Chiang Mai course. The short 6969-yard course is missing a set of the back (black tees), but it more than makes up for the lack of distance with the clever use of many of the elements from a British links style course. Bumpy fairways, pot bunkers, and closely mowed areas around the greens feature through the site.  This shorter course rewards ball placing accuracy rather than long shots and ensures a challenging game for both beginner and golf professional alike.

Strategically placed and high-lipped greenside bunkers come into play on every hole. Moreover, elevated greens mean that the distances to the greens are deceptive and there is a tendency to under club. Lakes, streams, and waterfalls come into play on most holes.  All of the par-3’s signature holes, but the best hole on the course is by far the long par-5 seventh.  Walk away with a par, and it is a sign of a good score to come.

All 18 holes blend well together to offer a unique challenge in natural settings. After the round, there is a beautiful view from the clubhouse. Although having seen better days and not the highlight of the golf course, the clubhouse features a full range of facilities including a golfer’s terrace. There is also an onsite golf resort, albeit catering more to locals than overseas visitors.

Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club & Resort is well-suited for golfers looking for a relaxed day out in natural settings.

"If your tee time booked is say 8.30am, you absolutely SHOULD NOT have to wait almost an hour to hit off due to the club obviously over booking starters. Golfasian should talk to this club about this practice. You can't fit 72 players in time slots available for 44."

"Golf course condition is fair and difficult with undulating fairways. Caddies are experienced and fine"

"The condition could be much better. The poor condition even disturbed the play a bit."

    • The service from start to finish was excellent (late changes to room requirements, number of players etc not a problem). Effective communication was maintained from start to finish. A very fair price for the services provided (I make a lot of trips to Thailand for golf so I know the general costs of hotels, transport, golf if you book directly). I like to use a service provider for larger groups to avoid all the administrative hassle and this is the second time I have used Golf Asian - it will certainly not be the last time. They take all the pressure off the planners/organizers, which meant we could all relax and enjoy the holiday. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Everything just runs so well... the logistics are perfect from the initial contact to the final bus drop off. Wonderful people too...so kind, hard working and helpful. • Our recent trip to the Pattaya area for 6 rounds of golf was excellent, and went very smoothly. Golfasian's itinerary was well executed, and everything worked like clockwork. Their drivers were exceptional in their service, and would register us at the golf club while we went straight to the locker room or driving range.

All this at very reasonable price levels makes Golfasian the number one choice for our group, and this is confirmed by us planning our golf holiday through Golfasian for the 8th year in a row.

Thank you Ian Morgan, and see you guys next year.

    • Just used Golfasian for the 3rd time. Their professionalism, organisation and flexibility is wonderful. They are well-priced and we have had no problems on any of the trips they have organised for us. Now could they just improve my golf score please??

    • We have used Golf Asian for 7 years in a row for our ASIAN Golf Trips, we have played Thailand 4 times, Vietnam, and Indonesia twice

Their service is of the highest quality, their knowledge of the market is second to none, and most importantly their staff, we have dealt with Lit extensively and she is amazing, and so are all the other staff, including the drivers, and airport meet and greet staff

Most importantly the value for money you get is second to none

      Keep up the good work

Will use them again next year

    • We dealt with GolfAsian via their Australian representative, Prestige Golf Tours. Couldn't be happier with either of these companies, or recommend them highly enough. All of the transfers from airports, hotels and golf clubs went perfectly. Their staff were a dream to deal with. Their prices are very reasonable. From small things like free water on the bus each day, we just couldn't have been happier.
