KLGCC West Course (Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club) Description:
(site of the PGA Tour CIMB Classic and LPGA Sime Darby)

KLGCCWest Course is the longer and more challenging of two private golf courses at the club near the heart of Kuala Lumpur's sprawling city center. Designed by architect Robin Nelson and playing to nearly 7,000 yards from the tournament tees, the golf course is set among the Bukit Kiara hillsides and abandoned rock quarries.

Professional tournaments staged at the KLGCC include The Malaysian Open, the first co-sanctioned event between the European and Asian Tours in 1999. The same event held again in 2006 was where Korea’s Charlie Wi won his first European Tour title, becoming only the second Korean to win on the European Tour after KJ Choi.

TPC Kuala Lumpur hosted another Malaysian Open in 2010, which resulted in a win for 18-year-old Korean Noh Seung-Yul, who edged out KJ Choi by a single shot in a dramatic finale on the 18th. In 2011, another youngster claimed the Malaysian Open title. Italy’s 17-year-old Matteo Manassero won the event by one shot. Since then, KLGCC West Course has been the annual venue for stops from the USPGA and USLPGA Tour, including the Maybank Open and Sime Darby Classic.

More recently, the West Course at TPC Kuala Lumpur has been completely redesigned. Nelson & Haworth originally designed the West Course, which opened for play in 1991, but Parslow and Associates extensively reconstructed the layout throughout eighteen months. The revamped West Course reopened in October 2008. The third makeover was completed in 2018.

A golf course for the true shot-maker with imagination and unrelenting attention to detail, Kuala Lumpur's KLGCC West Course is designed to give the player sensational views of the hole and the surrounding scenery, countless shot options into the greens, and pristine playing conditions.

The more challenging 7,000-yard West Course, which plays across the pleasantly undulating hills, features a vast lake on hole 9. Water now comes into play on no fewer than thirteen holes. This Kuala Lumpur course continues to be perfect, as it offers excellent challenges to visiting professionals and amateur Kuala Lumpur golfers alike.

KLGCC West Course (Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club) Reviews & Comments

John C. (2022-09-07)
"Seen it many times on TV when the major tours played there, so I was familiar with many of the holes on this hilly 18 hole course.
Possibly the best in the region and must be in the top list around the world.
Try their driving range before you start as it is very well designed and modern.
The fairways and greens were immaculate and even though we had a short tropical downpour during our round the drainage here is incredible and we were back out within minutes.
The massive clubhouse even has a bowling alley too!!!
Top of my list for sure."

    • Went with my brother and our non-golfing wives on a weeklong golf and cultural holiday in Hanoi. Superb attention to detail by Sophie who was very patient as we made several changes prior to finalization of booking. Drivers were very prompt and friendly. Tour guide "Hiro" who led us to an exploration of Hanoi military history was awesome and we learned so much from him. Played Dai Lai Star and BRG Legend, great design and scenery. Enjoyed also our cruise of Halong Bay. Just wish we had the time to play another round or 2. We are now planning a golf trip to either Penang, Phuket or Yogyakarta and cant wait to use GolfAsian again.
