Golfasian - Asian Golf Holiday Experts in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Laos & Myanmar

As the country reopens its doors without any restrictions to international golf travelers, major airlines have resumed flights between Phnom Penh and neighboring countries, including Taiwan, Philippines, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. Visas on arrival and e-visa are back, hotels are reopening, and we, Golfasian Cambodia feel it is now a great time to welcome our golfers back.

Win Zaw, our country manager in Cambodia, has sent us updated information, and we are pleased to share this with you.

Phnom Penh – your next golf holiday destination bucket list

When thinking of Cambodia, it is easy to conjure up thoughts of peaceful relaxation, Buddhist Monks, iconic temples and a deep-rooted history that awakens the soul and takes you back in time. It’s true that one can find all of this in beautiful country but did you know that it is also a great golfing destination for a perfect getaway?

Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s busy capital, sits at the junction of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers. It was a hub for both the Khmer Empire and French colonialists. On its walkable riverfront, lined with parks, restaurants and bars, there are the ornate Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and the National Museum, displaying artifacts from around the country. It is a great city that you can walk around and enjoy the activities. Night life activities are all in walking distance.

While ago, there were a limited number of golf courses in town, so if you plan to stay a week and play for 4-5 rounds it could be a challenge. Thanks to Vattanac Golf Resort that added 36 holes into the existing courses since 2019, we now can offer a full range of golf holidays in Cambodia with a tournament of 4 rounds at international standard courses.

Win Zaw has recently played a round at Vattanac Golf Resort during the first week of reopening of the country.  He believes that it’s a fantastic course, fully equipped with modern facilities such as GPS Carts, club house facilities, friendly well-trained caddies and a driving range, one of the best learning and practice facilities in Asia. Vattanac Golf Resort is designed by Sir Nick Faldo, and is managed by Troon Golf, the leader in upscale club management. In 2020 and 2021 it was awarded by World Golf Awards as Cambodia’s Best Golf Course for its East and West courses respectively, and as World’s Best 9 Hole Golf Course for its night course “The Dragon Turn”.

Vattanac and its “Temple Design” sets the innovation standard for golf in Cambodia. The par-72 East Course plays to over 7,400 yards and through scale models of pre-Angkorean structures including Preah Vihear Temple, Bayon Temple, and Angkor Wat. The design offers a unique combination of culture, leisure, and golf. These two 18-hole golf courses (East & West), and the Vattanac golf academy in Phnom Penh is now getting well-deserved attention from both locals and international golfers.

Last, but not least, while planning your golfing in Cambodia, Win Zaw suggests a few other destinations to complete your luxury holidays: visit ancient temples of Angkor or white sand beaches of Koh Rong Islands. Do some activities of cyclo ride around historical colonial streets, foodie adventure after dark, the Phare circus in Siem Reap. Those are some unforgettable experiences for those who are visiting Cambodia.
